Beach Welcome Party

What visit to Southern California is complete without a party at the beach? Head to the hotel first to visit the registration table then come on over to Torrey Pines Beach, about a mile away. We’ll have food, drinks, games in the sand and lots of good conversation. This is a great opportunity to relax after a long trip and mingle with everyone, make new friends and greet familiar faces. Sit in the sand for a bit and soak up some sunshine, dig your toes in the sand and jump a few waves. Grab a few buddies and hike up into the reserve area for some beautiful ocean views. We’ll get a few small fires going if anyone wants to make s’mores. Bring your guitar or your drums and serenade the sunset with your unschooling community.
Talent Show
Have a talent you want to share? We'd love to see it. For one night a wildly encouraging audience will be entertained by a legion of unschoolers. Singing, dancing, poetry, music-making, hula-hooping, magic, standing on your head- whatever you can do, show it off! We welcome all talents and all levels for a fun night of community and camraderie. If you want to participate, please limit your act to three minutes to ensure the show moves along and everyone gets their time in the spotlight. We'll have a sign-up table during the day prior to the talent show so you can sign up.
Amy Steinberg Concert and Family Fair
If you haven’t heard the amazing Amy Steinberg, you are in for a treat! Unschoolers have been following Amy’s music and hosting her concerts in their homes so much that she feels like part of the family. Her music is powerful, her lyrics meaningful, her spirit boundless. From her website: "Classically trained on piano and self-taught on guitar, with a bombastic belt and a dynamic presence, Amy's shows are jubilee meets revival." Read more about her and hear her music on her site. Amy will be giving us a concert that all family members will enjoy; she'll have the kids on their feet and the adults singing along. Admission is open to everyone who is registered for the conference and we will pass a hat for your generous donations to support this incredible artist.
Following the concert, mingle at our Family Fair. You’ll be entertained in a street fair-like atmosphere with vendors, performers, music and dessert. Our Untrepreneurs will be invited to set up their wares. More details will follow- this will be a fun event for the entire family.
Sunday Farewell Dance
We’ll wind the conference down with music and dancing in the ballroom. Bring your dancing shoes and pull out all of your best moves! We’ll turn the lights down and the music up to create a club for all ages to enjoy dancing the night away. Celebrate one last night with your friends and have some crazy fun! Good vibrations are sure to be in abundance as we close out our time together.
Post Conference Event
Stay through Monday to visit one our local attractions with your friends. We're planning a special group trip with a behind-the-scenes tour. Details and pricing will follow as soon as they are available.
